At that time the project had achieved Planning Approvals, commenced on site with preliminary drawings in place for the initial subcontract works. Peters tasks were to lead the 6 person team through completion of working drawings, co-ordination of Stage F drawings and subcontract tender & construction packages. Alongside this work Peter also had to closing out Planning Approvals, Reviewable Design data and Client Management.
A major Value Engineering exercise ensued mid 2011, with the re-design of the facade envelope support structure, the roof finishes, timber and copper elements, whilst maintaining the overall aesthetic appearance of the building in line with the Planning Visuals.
The School has been designed as a 1500 place Secondary School and a 160 place all through Special Needs School to a brief influenced Wolverhampton with a Transforming Education Agenda. The spaces created are flexible adaptable and aim to move the schools from ‘sage on the stage’ principles to ‘guide by the side’. The two schools are co-located either side of the main entrance, community and sports facilities which forms the green copper element separating the two school crescents. The special Needs School also has a Hydrotherapy pool within it.
